Soowan Lee has been brimming with confidence since childhood. In elementary school, he found soccer enjoyable, and his skills led him to be scouted by the soccer team of a neighboring school. By sixth grade, he was elected school president and later served as vice president in middle school. Mathematics, his favorite subject during his early years, was a field where he consistently ranked first. Upon entering a science high school, his enthusiasm for mathematics and physics earned him a gold medal in the Physics Olympiad. With a mindset that “anything is achievable if you try,” his confidence grew with each success.

Seeking to make a greater societal impact, Soowan developed a keen interest in entrepreneurship during his high school years. After graduating early, he enrolled in Seoul National University’s Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering. During his military service, the launch of the iPhone inspired him to pursue a career in IT. Upon discharge, he reached out to people he had always wanted to meet and decided to learn programming. He believed many individuals draft business plans but rarely follow through. Determined to take action, he assembled a team focused on developers and designers. This group garnered significant attention and evolved into a club called “Nexters.” Although he attempted to start a business during this time, he hadn’t yet found the right idea, so he focused on excelling in computer science and graduated with the resolve to become the best developer he could be.

Before graduation, he joined Channel Corporation, where he took on the role of CTO and product lead during the development of ChannelTalk. The product achieved remarkable growth, and during this time, he grew increasingly determined to build a globally used service originating from South Korea. Despite opposition from many, he left the company. Over the next two years, he played a pivotal role in helping a friend start a business, gaining invaluable experience in marketing solutions and further bolstering his confidence in both programming and business.

Believing that adapting to rapid change was crucial, Soowan saw entrepreneurship as a low-risk choice and founded TainAI. Today, Soowan and TainAI team operate Oreurak, a financial AI service. They believe that the investment and financial sectors overly focus on making money through investing, overlooking the joy of learning about companies. Oreurak aims to make investing an enjoyable experience. TainAI’s vision is supported by the growing direct investment market, which has outpaced the robo-advisor sector. Customers appreciate Oreurak’s rapid development, with consistent feedback helping the service evolve over two years. Both customers and colleagues acknowledge the growth within the company, especially that of Soowan Lee himself.

Initially recognized as a passionate and skilled leader in product development, Soowan is now seen as a dependable leader with strong business acumen. TainAI’s cohesive and agile culture fosters innovation by prioritizing services that bring value to many, rather than dwelling on opportunity costs or legacy systems. In the short term, TainAI aims to provide financial AI services akin to personal asset managers or analysts, striving to become the global leader with the most users. In the long term, the company envisions expanding AI-based services beyond finance to fields like psychological counseling. Confident in their unparalleled understanding of the AI market and their ability to swiftly deliver impactful solutions, Soowan Lee and TainAI’s journey is one to watch.
